Two Men

By Tom Thomas

There were two men at sunrise; two men at dawn,
But at the sunset, one man was gone.

Now this story I'm tellin'; I know that it's true.
From out in Wyomin' where skys are so blue,
From the wide Powder River to the Medicine Bow,
The tale of these two men, you've heard it I know.

How there were two men at sunrise, two men at dawn,
But at the sunset, one man was gone.

These two men had been pardners, in days that were past
But the trails they now rode had parted at last.
As each rode into town on that bright sunny day,
Not dreamin' that they would e're meet in this way.

There were two men at sunrise, two men at dawn,
But at the sunset, one man was gone.

As they rode down main street of this little cow town,
Everyone hunted for cover, you could sense a show down
Two six guns were drawn, both shootin' hot lead.
One man stood still--the other fell dead.

There were two men at sunrise two men at dawn,
But at the sunset, one man was gone.

The full moon rose high, the night air grew still,
And just one lone horseman, rode out o'er the hill.
There'd been two men at sunrise, two men at dawn,
But at the sunset, one man was gone.
