Art for the waiting
Merely through its many postage stamps, the United States Postal Service is one of the largest distributors of art in the world. But walk into any of a number of post offices around this country and you will be treated to some beautiful works without even buying a stamp. During the 1930's, our federal government hired artists to paint murals on the lobby walls of dozens of post offices, and many of these pieces exist today, for your enjoyment during your brief wait in line at the postal counter.
